Eisenhower Executive Office Building
Washington, DC
HSMM is the architect and engineer of record for the first two phases of a fast-track complete modernization of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB). The structure, first occupied in 1875, provides administrative office space for the executive branch of government. Also included in this project is the design of a new South Court support facility and Central Plant to serve the entire 600,000-square-foot building. The EEOB is regarded as one of the nation’s premier architectural treasures and is a designated National Historic Landmark. Phase I was completed in March 2007, Phase II is nearing completion.

Modernization of the EEOB includes the transformation of the existing structure into a state-of-the art facility, featuring a secure computer facility and secure conference rooms. The addition of a highly complex and innovative audio-visual system includes a multi-media conference center.
The EEOB requires a utilities upgrade to meet the requirements for reliability, redundancy and energy efficiency. To date, upgrades to the utility design include back-up power systems, a new chilled water plant, and a completely new electrical distribution system. |
