HSMM provided architectural and engineering design services as part of a design-build contract for a $65 million Combat Aviation Brigade Barracks at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Combat Aviation Brigade Barracks Complex
Fort Bragg, NC

The Savannah District Corps of Engineers selected HSMM as part of a design/build team for the construction and design of the new Combat Aviation Brigade Barracks (CABB) Complex at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This project is part of Fort Bragg’s Army Communities of Excellence installation upgrade program. The goal of this program is to provide the single soldier an improved quality of residential life, together with state-of-the-art and improved office, administrative, training, medical and dining facilities.

The project includes the design, site preparation and construction of multiple facilities within a 70-acre campus complex, which contains three wetland areas.

The facilities consist of barracks buildings for 512 soldiers, company operations facilities, battalion headquarters, brigade headquarters, dining facility and aero-medical facility. Supporting services and facilities include site development, parking, concrete pavement, sidewalks, water, sewer, electrical service, fire alarm systems, storm drainage, erosion control measures, information systems, interior design and landscaping anti-terrorism and  force protection (AT/FP) requirements were required in the design of the complex.

The 193,000-square-foot barracks houses 512 soldiers. Barracks consist of a series of two-bedroom modules with each module containing:

  • private living/sleeping rooms,
  • semi-private bath,
  • walk-in closets,
  • kitchenette/dining area, and separate HVAC systems.

The barracks include the following common areas located on the first floor:

  • lobby with reception counter,
  • mail facilities,
  • toilet,
  • vending area,
  • pay phones, and
  • kitchen/dining area.
