Entering AMC III is a dramatic experience, with glass-covered decorative arches that lead to a two-story atrium that serves as the main lobby. Inside, all work areas surround a landscaped interior courtyard and lightwell, providing visual and physical access to the outdoors. Security systems are state-of-the-art, with controlled access and a closed-circuit television system that are monitored from a master security station. The building also includes secure conference rooms, video teleconferencing suites, and data/communications room. Mitchell Hall provides approximately 70,000 square feet of Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) space.
Mitchell Hall received an Honor Award in Facility Design from the Air Force Materiel Command.
Stewart Hall
Stewart Hall is the first of a nine-building campus at Wright-Patterson AFB known as the Acquisition Management Complex. HSMM designed the 108,000 SF office building as a first-class headquarters facility, creating a corporate environment that inspires and invigorates its users. From the dynamic vaulted entry to the central lightwell, the level of design excellence is evident, setting the precedent for later phases. All work areas are contained within Class A vault space for security reasons. Workstations surround an interior courtyard, providing access to the outdoors while maintaining security. The building houses a 100-person Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) conference room, a communications center and video teleconferencing suite with tiered seating.
Stewart Hall has received 6 design awards, including an International Citation Award and a Design Merit Award from the U.S. Air Force, an Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture from the Virginia Society AIA, and a First Place Award from the Virginia Chapter American Society of Interior Designers. |
