Clemson Memorial Stadium
Clemson University, SC
For many years, flooding was a continuing problem at Clemson Memorial Stadium, a result of inadequate field drainage. The University turned to HSMM to design stormwater improvements and a series of upgrades for the stadium.

HSMM provided design and construction administration services for the new stormwater improvements. A new 60-inch-diameter stormwater conduit passes through Clemson Memorial Stadium from the east end zone to a nearby road. The drainage improvements also include 60 linear feet of 24-inch-diameter sanitary sewer line as well as miscellaneous drains for removal of naturally occurring groundwater. Additional field improvements include a unique subsurface aeration and moisture control system; a new irrigation system; and surface grading modifications to the playing field.
Schedule control was critical. The HSMM team developed a detailed design and construction schedule so that the field was in playing condition prior to the start of football season. |
