Streescape Improvements
Benson, NC
The Town of Benson, North Carolina selected HSMM to design and prepare construction documents for streetscape improvements along the town's Main Street. Design development focused on improving traffic circulation and making downtown more appealing to pedestrians. Another key issue for local merchants was preserving parking spaces for downtown patrons. In developing the plans, HSMM designers retained as much on-street parking as possible.

Proposed renovations to the 1500-foot-long section of Main Street include new sidewalks, curbs and gutters, tree plantings, period-type lighting, expanded planting areas, and site furnishings such as benches and trash receptacles. |
