HSMM transformed the 25,000-square-foot cafeteria-styled dining space into a restaurant-type dining venue that echoes the high-tech state of the facility it supports. The former institution-like kitchen was also updated to a new ‘branding area’ kitchen. A fast-track schedule was met while remaining in operation during the entire construction process. Natural maple casework and wall paneling, brushed stainless steel accents, custom furniture designs, and curved perforated ceiling systems all contribute to the first-class dining environment for DIA’s many employees and visitors.
The project has been recognized for design excellence with a First Place Award, Government Category, from the Virginia Chapter ASID and VA/WV Chapter IIDA.
