Military Base Environmental Permitting
Roanoke, VA
Under an indefinite delivery contract, HSMM has prepared several environmental permits for engineering projects at a military base in Virginia. These projects include roadway alternatives, replacement of two bridges, sanitary sewer line repair, and environmental permitting.

As a part of these projects, HSMM environmental scientists have evaluated the Rare Threatened and Endangered (RTE) plant, the small whorled pogonia (Isotria medeoloides), used a Global Positioning System (GPS) to investigate roadway alternative routes and save surveying costs, delineated wetlands and streams, coordination with environmental personnel at the base, prepared Joint Permit Applications (JPA), and prepared a stream mitigation plan.
