HSMM, in a joint venture with HOK, developed the bridging documents and the Design-Build Request for Proposal (RFP) for the renovation and construction of approximately 1,062,000 SF of patient care space for the WRNMMC.

The facility incorporates sustainable and evidence based design features, such as patient lifts, natural lighting, acoustical privacy, fall protection, design to place emphasis on hand washing and infec-tion control and family focused care areas. The facility is anticipated to be LEED rated as “Certified” or “Silver”.

The project includes both new facility support systems and modifications to existing facility support systems.  These systems include pneumatic tubes, fire protection sprinkler and alarm, mechanical, plumbing, medical gas, electrical (primary and back-up) distribution, information/communication, se-curity and elevators.

The new and renovation construction will be phased to maintain facility operations and minimize disruptions to patients and staff. The project includes the creation of temporary clinical space as well as multiple phased moves and relocations.
