Riverside Center Master Plan

HSMM developed the master plan for Carilion Clinic’s new 30-acre Riverside Center, part of the 110-acre South Jefferson Redevelopment Area near downtown Roanoke. HSMM also developed the overall master plan with design guidelines for the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority.  This industrial area’s deteriorated condition was considered an eyesore for many years before this planned development. 

The 30-acre site will be completely redeveloped from its former industrial use.  Trees, grass and other vegetation will be re-introduced to revive the landscape and enhance future development. 

As part of the master plan, HSMM planned utility layout, stormwater management, landscaping, transportation, and architectural design for future development.  The master plan allows for the development of several office and commercial buildings, a hotel, and three parking decks.
